Prof. Mary Ndung’u, Vice Chancellor of Kirinyaga University, presided as the Guest of Honour at the closing ceremony of the KENET Cybersecurity In-Person Training held at Abai Lodge, Kirinyaga, on Monday, February 23 through Friday, February 27, 2026.
The training marked successful completion of the third cohort of the MT Kenya regional capacity-building programme sponsored by Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). The initiative forms part of a two-year programme aimed at strengthening cybersecurity knowledge, enhancing technical skills, and building resilience within institutions across the region through structured training and professional development. Kirinyaga University was represented by ICT Officers, Mr. Karim Kumbi and Ms. Millycent Machwenu, who actively participated in the programme and were awarded Certificates of Participation in recognition of their successful completion. The Vice Chancellor congratulated the participants and emphasized the importance of cybersecurity skills in today’s increasingly digital environment, highlighting Kirinyaga University’s commitment to capacity building and professional development for its staff.
