On 24th June 2021, Kirinyaga University, situated in Kirinyaga County, marked a significant milestone in its academic journey with the unveiling of the Kilele Tuition Block — a modern, state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance teaching and learning.
Since its commissioning, the Block has strengthened the University’s capacity to delivering high-quality education by providing modern classrooms, spacious lecture halls, and well-equipped training spaces. The improved infrastructure has enhanced interactive learning, reduced congestion, and created a more conducive academic environment for both students and faculty. Beyond the University, the impact has extended to the residents of Kirinyaga County. Thus the expansion of the teaching and learning at the university. It has stimulated local economic activity through increased demand for housing, transport, food services and promoted small businesses. The building created employment opportunities during construction and as learning space directly and indirectly benefiting families within the region.
Availability of improved learning facilities at the university and by extension the county has enabled more local students to access quality higher education closer to home, reducing relocation costs and strengthening community ties.
