KyU performed marvelously well at the National Drama Festivals held at Kibabii University

KyU performed marvelously well at the National Drama Festivals held at Kibabii University, April 3 – 13, 2019. Our team was ranked third overall in Mime and stand Up comedy and awarded a trophy on second Runners Up Mime.

We were also awarded certificate of Merit in:

Best Costume and prop
2nd Runners up- Winning Mime
2nd Runners up- Best Production-Mime

PROF. MARY NDUNG’U - KyU VICE CANCELLOR HITS 200 CITATIONS THRESHOLD AT “RESEARCHGATE”

Prof. Mary Ndung’u, the Vice Chancellor, KyU has been recognized by ‘Research gate’, a global network of scientists that share research concepts and outcomes on a peer review platform, through discussions, citations and collaborations. The group highlights achievements of and commends researchers whose findings generate sizeable interest and citations by peers working in related disciplines.  Professor Ndung’u’s articles titled “Potential of Desert Locust Schistocerca Gregaria (Orthoptera: Acrididae) as an Unconventional Source of Dietary and Therapeutic Sterols” currently on the “peer review spotlight” has now reached 200 reads’ threshold; a significant achievement in deed. 

The Deputy Vice Chancellor and the entire KyU family congratulate Professor Ndung’u for this Progressive and outstanding achievement.

KyU DRAMA CLUB EXCELS DURING THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN REGIONAL DRAMA FESTIVALS HELD AT DEDAN KIMATHI UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (DEKUT) IN NYERI ON MARCH 7-10, 2019

The KyU Drama club excelled in the just concluded Central Region and Eastern Regional Drama Festival held at DEKUT from 7-10 March, 2019.

At an event that was attended by seventeen (17) universities and technical colleges, our team emerged position one (1) overall in Modern Dance, two in Choral Verse, spoken word and stand-up comedy respectively, three in Narrative, four in Solo verse, five in play and six in mime.

KyU team was awarded five trophies for:  Modern Dance, Choral verse, Narrative, Spoken word and Stand-up Comedy.  They also received eight special award certificates. In addition, eight items will be proceeding to the National Drama festivals which will be held between 3-13 April, 2019 at Kibabii University, Bungoma.

KIRINYAGA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ACHIEVE YET ANOTHER MILESTONE: DISPLAY EXCEPTIONAL MATURITY DURING ELECTION OF STUDENTS ELECTORAL COLLEGE USING A DIGITAL ELECTION PROCESS

Kirinyaga University students displayed on Wednesday February 20, 2019 exceptional maturity during election of electoral college ahead of students Governing Council elections.

Voting exercise was conducted electronically in a smooth process that did not interfere with operations of the University.

No lectures were missed and every business of the University went on undisturbed.

NO NOISE, NO OUTWARD EXPRESSION OF ANXIETY DESPITE SUPPORT FOR DIFFERENT CANDIDATES.

This exercise has clearly demonstrated the extent to which KyU students are committed to creating the “Character of a University” that they wish to be associated with.

These students by their actions have deliberately shown that they stand shoulders above their contemporaries in the region.

The office of the Vice Chancellor and that of the Deputy Vice Chancellor ASA congratulate the KyU student fraternity, the office of the Dean of student’s KyU electoral commission, agents and contestants for this display of sobriety.

This is indeed a bold step to display how different we are from the rest and confirm that we surely uphold the “Fair Go” philosophy at Kirinyaga University.

Well done KyU students for showing that you stand high above the rest.

ACTIVITIES OF THE WEEKS THAT WERE: KIRINYAGA UNIVERSITY WILDLIFE CLUB CLEAN- UP EXERCISE AT KUTUS TOWN ON NOVEMBER 24, 2018

KyU Wildlife Club participated in a clean-up exercise at Kutus Town on November 24, 2018.

The team cleaned Open Air Market (Mjini) and its surrounding environment under the supervision of the County Environment Officers in-charge of the Public Health and Sanitation. The team thereafter cleaned Kutus main stage and the street up to Kianyaga junction.
