PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATE IN DATA ANALYSIS USING

This course provides introduction to applied statistics and SPSS for analysing quantitative data. The training course will present modern statistical methods needed for data analysis and statistical reasoning, and will equip leaners with knowledge of how to use SPSS for data analysis, interpretation and data presentation. Participants interested in learning and picking up quantitative data analysis methods and concepts will find this course useful and applicable.  Practical data analysis sessions will be based on publicly available data from academic research, Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), and participants own data.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ACTUARIAL SCIENCE

Actuarial Science is concerned with the construction of models and solutions for financial, business, and societal problems involving uncertain future events.  Actuarial practitioners, also known as Actuaries, have been described as financial architects and social mathematicians.  Broadly speaking, actuaries forecast the cost of future risks and improve financial decision making by developing models to evaluate the current financial implications of uncertain future events. The graduates will mostly find employment in the insurance, employee benefits, and pension and management consulting industry.  Actuaries will also be employed in commercial banks, brokerage houses, investment banks and software development companies.  However, the elaborate statistical base build in this course can also see a graduate work as a statistician or a statistical consultant.
